Michael Holder, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of North Star Consultants, possesses over 20 years of comprehensive experience in wealth management, legal affairs, and compliance. His experience spans renowned Canadian law firms, financial institutions, securities regulators, and fintech firms. Before joining North Star, Michael served as the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at Delphia USA, Associate General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at Wealthsimple, Senior Legal Counsel at BMO Financial Group, and was a member of the Autorité des marchés financiers Technological Innovation Advisory Committee.

Michael commenced his legal career at Osler Hoskin & Harcourt LLP and later became a partner at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP’s Capital Markets Group. During this tenure, he was seconded to the Ontario Securities Commission. Apart from his legal practice and roles at Holder Legal Services and various board and advisory positions, Michael is also an instructor of Securities Law at Windsor Law School. He holds an LLB from Windsor Law School, a Bachelor of Arts from Western University, and an EMBA from Ivey Business School.
